With summer well and truly here, days are getting hotter and longer – but, as a result, your bedroom may still feel warm long after the sun goes down.
To get your bedroom ready for summer, we're sharing a few tried-and-tested upgrades you can make today.
From cooling your sleep space with lighter materials to making a few seasonal updates, these ideas can help transform your bedroom into the ultimate escape during the year's hottest months.
Swap your sheets
Make the switch to linen bedding this summer. If you haven't already, now is the time to replace any thick sheets or heavy quilts with lighter, more breathable alternatives.
Linen sheets need a wash or two to soften up, so don't be surprised if they feel a bit stiffer than classic percale during the first few nights. After a few sleeps and washes, you'll wonder how you ever managed without them.
Pare down your cushions
Summer sleeping is a no-frills affair, which means you could probably do without a decorative cushion (or four). Streamline your bed styling with no more than two decorative cushions to create a cleaner, more breathable look for the season.

Refresh your bedside table
This upgrade is fairly simple: Clear your bedside table. Keeping your space clean and uncluttered prevents it from feeling cramped or stuffy during hot weather.
Not sure where to start? Put away anything you don't reach for every night, yes, even your latest book club read. Stick to the essentials and tuck everything else away in drawers.
"Edit bedside tables down to a few intentional objects. Negative space creates that sense of calm," says designer Lonni Paul. Finish the look with fresh-cut flowers from your garden to really embrace the summer season.
