Christmas is a time of traditions, from trimming the tree, to decorating the house—inside and out—watching holiday movies, listening to Yuletide music, and, of course, making the turkey. But if you’re looking for another special tradition to add to the list, might we suggest DIY snowman ornaments? After all, there’s almost nothing that makes more lasting memories than the time we spend with our kids crafting at Christmas. And of course, nothing quite says winter wonderland like Frosty, whether you’re making him in the yard with snow, or creating one to decorate the evergreen.
That’s why we’ve collected the following DIY snowman ornaments. Most are simple enough you can create them with your littles—like the shell ornament you’ll all go “nutty” for—although there are also more intricate snowmen, including the crochet contender, that will make perfect Christmas presents. And many, such as the bottle cap snowman, and the light bulb Frosty, can be made with what you probably have in your craft room, so you won’t have to head out in the wintry weather. Behind on your Christmas to-do list? That’s okay, we’ve also included Etsy snowman baubles so lovely it will become a tradition simply hanging them on the tree.

Once you get your fill of eating peanuts, you can use the rest for cute snowmen ornaments that can be made in an afternoon and hung on the tree by nightfall.
This clever ornament is made from placing Epsom salt and a few peppercorns into a clear globe ornament. It makes it look as if the snowman is melted at the bottom.
So simple it can be created with your kids but no endearing for it, this snowman ornament can be made with alphabet blocks and supplies you have stashed in your house.
